dumb tech question
I am off to Aussie tomorrow, to speak at various things in Melbourne and Adelaide. I have a video clip that I really want to play at each of these gatherings (it sort of stirs up my Aussie mates you know). It is on Youtube and I can not presume that all the 12 places I am speaking have wireless. Is there a way for me to download unto my laptop a Youtube video?
Update: Hey thanks heaps everyone. All sorted. For those who are interested, this is the video that I, as a Kiwi, am keen to use in Aussie :). It's called - Someone always wants to steal your stuff.

I download the .flv files (that are used in youtube) with this FF add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/pl/firefox/addon/2584
Then you can play them with this: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

If you go to www.videodownloader.net you can download the video as a .flv also, and then go and download flv-viewer. It works, I've done it before.
Posted by: Paul M at May 3, 2007 02:04 PMSimilar to the above, I often use the VideoDownloader plugin for Firefox (which works with more than just YouTube)

And then play the saved FLV file in VLC.
VLC is wonderful - saved my bacon a few times. I have it on both the Mac and PC.
Also, if it's also available on Google Video (not as a linked from there to YouTube) that also offers download option for PC and iPod that should work(?) too without all the add-ons.

if you have a mac. best thing I have found (by far) is called podtube. downloads, encodes and puts the movie in itunes. It costs 5 dollars but worth every penny.

And isn't it ironic that the advert is for a foreign owned corporation!
