It depends. If the movie is streamed down the line then not normally. If the file exists as a distinct file on a web server then maybe. What you would have to do it look at the source for the web page and work out what the name of the movie file is and it's URL. Then you can put that into a download manager program and get the file sucked down.

QT Pro allows you to save the file from where it's been temporarily stored while playing. On a Mac you can often find the file use by the free QT player in the /tmp directory - maybe there's a similar location QT uses in Windows. You might have to rename it though.

Of course, all the normal issues with copyright etc. apply to doing this sort of thing.

Having said all that QT Pro offers more than just saving movies viewed on the net. It does add some basic video editing capabilities, supports some extra video formats and allows you to convert one format to another. If you're working with video a lot spending $AUS 59 might be worth the investment.

Agree with Stephen re Quicktime Pro, it's not expensive for what you can do with it. On a PC, if you have played the movie, you can generally find the movie (unless of course it's streaming) in your temporary internet files folder, sounds similar to on a mac. They are the .mov ones. And when quicktime asks, if you want to purchase Pro, which mine seems to every time, I just click "I'll think about it later", or whatever the equivalent is.

I took your question slightly differently, you can simply download the FREE quicktime player from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone/. You can then play any quicktime movie you download as a standalone or in your browser. Any quicktime movie you find you can usually rt mouse click and download. Or dig up its URL.
