And then, today…

I got stuck in a moment.

It has been a very busy weekend.
A good weekend, but very busy.

One thing I was REALLY looking forward to today
was watching the netball final (nz vs australia): gold medal match.

On at 5pm

Turn TV on at 4.30 to Get Ready
and remote doesn’t work.
(Had this problem before)
Can’t make TV go without remote.

Load girls back in car,
and drive to Dick Smith Electronics to buy universal remote.

Come home with one that looks fine.

Oh dear.

I need the remote to be working to programme the new remote.

Too late by this stage to take it back
and swap for the other one that would probably have been fine.

So i sit on the floor
Radio Sport on.
Well and truly stuck in a moment.

Wallowing there

Children trying to “fix” things: me, TV.

Not my best moment.

Eventually i waded out.
(and nz won!)

A prayer of St Patrick

st patrick.gif
This day I call to me:
God’s strength to direct me,
God’s power to sustain me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s vision to light me,
God’s ear to my hearing,
God’s word to my speaking,
God’s hand to uphold me,
God’s pathway before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s legions to save me.

(Posted today cos i suspect tomorrow will be frenetic!)

Talking to myself

As i sit at my computer
nutting out “hard stuff”,
talking to myself,
I remember there is a man in my lounge/ceiling/roof
installing a new woodburner.

I hope he doesn’t think i am mad, talking to myself.

And then i listen closer
and yes, he is,
talking to himself.

So he is unlikely to think i am mad for doing same.

Sudden thought…

perhaps he thinks i AM mad
and is talking to himself so i think he is not alone
and therefore won’t suddendly attack him with flue.

or maybe he just,
like me,
talks to himself as part of his everyday!

Oh no

Marvellous Air New Zealand are transferring tickets.
I was SOOOOO looking forward to it
and now we need to make all sorts of decisions…

(but within it all,
i am endeavouring to remember it is not all about ME
and am praying for the band and especially the family member concerned.
… i refuse to get stuck in a moment)

Annette’s story reminds me

Go here first, then come on back.

Reading that reminded me that i haven’t told you:
that you can fit three bales of pea straw
in a Mazda capella
… but not four.

And whilst having three bales of pea straw in your mazda capella,
there is no room for any children you may have.

so it is best to Be Prepared
and bring your sister along for the giggle.

the oderings carpark entrance gate closes BEFORE oderings,
and before the exit gate.
So it is best to leave a little earlier if you are going to take some time
1. fitting three bales of pea straw in your mazda capella
2. returning to claim a refund for the fourth bale that “fidn’t dit”
3. waving goodbye to sister and children
4. stopping car and signalling to them wildly to come and see
5. driving off just as they arrive to see the traction engine

by the time they walk the l o n g driveway to the entrance,
the gate may well be shut and locked
and there just could be an alsatian dog following them back up the l o n g drive, past the traction engine, and down the l o n g exit drive.

And it is possible for one person to successfully lug the three bales of pea straw out of the mazda capella on their own.

So there you go.
Just in case you needed to know.

(But what has this to do with me tidying my office??)

St Patrick and some ABCs

I confess.

I read the article, titled, Celebrate St Patricks Day,
itching to comment on the bottom,
“I shall be celebrating St Patricks Day…
in Auckland…
at Erickson stadium…
with U2!!!”

But that seemed altogther too gloaty.

En route through the article, i discovered this lovely ABC

A is for alignment, choosing what is best by Kingdom standards.

B is for balanced: Find an enjoyable, balanced rhythm of life so it will be sustainable. (Our friends at Off the Map say, “Do what’s do-able. That’s all you’re going to do anyway!”)

C is for centering on God and flowing from a place of prayer and worship.

and the questions:
(from the order of the mustard seed)
How can I be true to Christ today?
How can I be kind to people today?
How can I be the gospel to the nations today?

a life to aim for!
