Possibly it’s a confusion in some between ethnic and cultural identity. And furthermore, a clearer definition of Pakeha migth be useful - if it simply means non-Maori then it embraces a variety of ethnicities.

Sorry I made your job harder! And so did my husband - he should really have written half-British half-Malaysian Chinese. Would that have really helped? He sees himself as a “Kiwi” and looks more Maori than Pakeha!

Not wanting to get into a big debate… but I would NEVER tick Pakeha as my ethnicity. I really dislike the word and don’t associate myself with it.

I’m afraid I’m one of the 429429.
