What you say sounds right yet he must have been okay at times because he judged Israel for 20 years, not an easy task.

I have a differing view on Samson. I see him as a man who wants to do God’s will because that is the life he was born to do. And though he suffered arrogance early in his life he still cared about the woman he married. Yea he probably did have an anger problem but to me it shows me that even God’s chosen judges of God’s chosen nation were completely human. When the woman was killed his anger issue was really expressed. The thing that make me sympathise with Samson is when he falls in love and is betrayed by that love. He goes crazy because he’s love-sick. It makes me wonder what other people would do in that situation. Losing the woman you love because of a silly bet, didn’t he lose the first woman in a similar manner? And he still didn’t learn from his earlier lesson. What would others do in Samson’s situation? I can’t imagine many people doing something rational when they find out that the love they have for someone is not returned. That’s my thoughts anyway.

Thanks for your comments, Elizabeth and Andrew. I’m not saying he’s all bad, just that i don’t especially like him. I think he could have been better! (Some highly dodgy people ruled in OT times … some highly dodgy people rule/d all through history!)
