Where was God in the earthquake?

I’d love to hear your stories of where/how you found God/God found you in the Christchurch earthquake and ongoing aftershocks…

i’m really interested in people’s “everyday” spiritual experiences… and this, whilst not “everyday” by any stretch(!) is part of that.. how do people encounter God as they simply get on and live their lives, whatever they encounter during their days.

I’m sure there are loads of awesome stories out there… I’d love to have you share them.  (I won’t pass any on without permisison, but may look to if you’re interested.)

I have sensed God in how I have been in my element helping people, and in how I was not too badly shaken from the 7.1 earthquake so was able to ring around church and visit people all day.

And I saw God at work when Paul (see above) arrived in my driveway to check I was ok…. and in the middle of the night when my house was rocking and rolling (and I suspect I was whimpering) and put down my hand to find the parcel with the torch that I had bought my Dad for Fathers Day the night before, and so had a tiny comforting light. And suddenly it didn’t seem quite so terrifying.

One more: when all the power was out, and I plucked up my courage between aftershocks to venture out to check on my neighbour, the stars, oh those glorious stars. So many and so bright…. made me realise afresh the God’s glory through the night sky.
