Dan says
-change is harder than creation
-what’s church in a society that no longer has a Protestant guilt about not going to church?
-we’re connecting with people to call them to a new way of being
soundbites from Dan@signposts

is connecting isolated people with a community of faith really just “change” in their lifestyle or is it the “creation” of a whole new way of being. i looked at dan@signposts blog but could find the post you were quoting from so i’m not sure exactly what was being said with the quotes above. it just seems to me that alot of what we are doing with the non-bbelieving world is mid-wifing while GOD creates and we are helping change with the believing world because that creation already exists.

Robert, I was quoting Dan, who was with us here speaking for a seminar, and not in relation to her blog. the comment on change vs creation was a reflection on the fact that she believed it was harder to go to an existing church and change it, than to plant (create) a new church.
i totally agree with you, that mission is us participating in God’s acts.

Great website.
I was thinking of a new book, “The Shape of Things to Come.” The forward says pretty much what you did. “It is easier to create a new church than to transform an existing one.” Creation can be a new church start or creating a “new” church within an old one. Of the two doing a new thing was thougth to be more productive and viable.
