this is abusive behaviour. this is not an individual problem but a societal issue. the internet needs to grow up and find ways to redeem such behaviours.

Update: If this was happening in a real world, a restraining order could be enacted. The internet doesn’t really have this facility. Hence my assertion that this is a societal issue that the internet community as a whole has to work at.

  2. Hi Steve, it is sick behaviour but it is an individual that is doing it. The net isn’t responsible but the person is. He is just using a new medium.

  3. Hi Steve, I agree with your sentiment but it is happening offline as well and it is very hard to get a restraining order under many jurisdictions and even harder to get it enforced.

    In some ways my comments and Wendy’s don’t hint at the complexity of the situation and it probably isn’t the best to talk about it here. I’ll drop you an e-mail.
